Trusting and Loving
Wayne Dyer wrote that there are only two emotions: fear and love, neither of which can exist in the presence of the other.
We express love when we share our joy, when we are generous, when we empathise. Anger and jealousy and resentments reveal our fear.
One of the many facets of love is trust. As we seek fulfillment within the dichotomy of Love and Fear, trust is the expression that lets us feel safe.
It is one of the tasks of life to balance personal trust with love and trust at the universal level.
A simple definition of trust is the
firm belief in the reliability, truth, or strength of someone or something.
We trust in the physical world without considering it.
We trust the sun to be reliable, and to rise each day. We believe that trees can be trusted to stay upright.
Trust the Physical Within our society, we trust technologies which funnel light, water, heat and email from the greater world into the small place where we use them: we most often take them for granted.
As we move through our days, we trust health-care professionals to know the latest techniques and research results. We trust the school system to fully and effectively educate the next generation. We trust all the people in the airline industry to work together to make our air travel safe. We place our very lives into the hands of pilots and air traffic controllers.
Untrusting When people are unable to trust the systems of our culture, for whatever reason, we see them with phobias. They may experience fear of flying; fear of open spaces; fear of enclosure. Fearful energy takes priority in their responses, and the trusting aspect of love becomes inaccessible to them.
Creativity Trust is necessary at an individual level as well as in the larger, societal systems.
Dzigar Kongtrul writes that 'When we trust our creative energy, we encounter a supreme kind of enjoyment—an amazement at the natural unfolding of life beyond our ordinary way of looking at things. When we talk about creating art—or more importantly, the art of living a sane life—it means trusting our basic nature and its natural creativity.'
Creativity which has been curbed by experience results in adults who often do not, in fact, trust ourselves.
Emotional Memory We waltz with our memories, sometimes seeking accurate facts which we think are more real than our impressions of the past. Those impressions are firmly encoded by our emotions, and trusting the Emotional Plane can lead to profound understanding.
Our Spiritual Selves use our body, our physical container, to amplify the information we need. Knowing this can move us towards our intended destiny, because we can trust gut feelings, hunches and impulses. Spirit provides the clearest and most trustworthy communication.
Trusting Self.
Learning to overcome our insecurities is a vital step towards total trust. Perhaps the ability to trust others comes when we are filled with trust in ourselves.
While I am insecure I am unlikely to trust
anyone. While I am not living my full truth, I can be damaged by the liars around me. While I am afraid, I cannot love.
When I am aligned in Love, I know I can cope with whatever life offers. I need not be timid.
Which returns me to the ongoing theme of my writing and my life.
Trust Me What matters is Love.
When we remember that we are pieces of Source Love, learning about itself, fear can claim no foothold.
We can express Love by being trustworthy.
We can express trust by loving wholeheartedly.
Releasing fear allows us to develop connexion with the Love which animates us, and which will provide a fund of overflowing trust that can never expire.
